Fourth Grade Fun

We are planning to add to this site
as our school year unfolds.

Special Projects

All Saints Day - We work really hard to research a saint that we want to know more about.  Then we write a research report which we share with each other.  For All Saints Day we dress up as our saints and prepare an all school mass.  All Saints Day is a very important day in fourth grade.

South Dakota History - Throughout the year, the fourth graders get to spend time studying their state.  They learn about lots of different topics, participate in many different activities, and create projects.  Several field trips add to our study of South Dakota.

Kindergarten Buddies - At the beginning of the year, we pair up with the kindergarten class.  We do many special things with our buddies during the year.  We go to the Donut Shoppe with them when they study the letter D.  We help them with different projects, especially writing.  We read to them and listen to them read to us.  We love spending time with our buddies!

Field Trips

James River Water Festival - In May we take a field trip to learn about water.  We go to different sessions and learn about things like the water cycle, the importance of keeping our water clean, and the many uses of water.  Last year we made friendship bracelets and terrariums.

Riverside Colony - In the spring we go to the Riverside Colony to learn about our Hutterite neighbors.  This is another way to learn about South Dakota and its people.  We take a tour of the colony and spend time playing and getting to know each other.
